I know, I’m hardly breaking any news here, but the iPhone is here, and it’s beautiful, and most of all: I want one!
Wow, just wow, I read quite a few rumors, and I don’t remember ever seeing anything even remotely like this predicted. Well done, Steve, well done.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have 7 chapters of Stroustrup to practically memorizeby Thursday.

I’m looking around for a blogging client for OS X – very prefferably a free one.
This search of course led me to the free, open source, cross platform Bleezer
So far, it looks like the cross-platform choice was the application’s undoing. Java apps pretty much never look good on the Mac, and the fact that it was apparently a Window’s app first mean that the icons look very out of place.
Another significant issue I ran across is that when I triedto download a previous post for editing, all formatting got totally mangled. Maybe this was a one-time thing or a bug in my setup, because according to the screenshots on the developer’s site, it should work. But that doesn’t matter significantly to me – stuff should just work.
Those things out of the way, I will say that Bleezer seems to have a lot of neat little features and some cool service integration (Flickr, del.icio.us).
Maybe some of the kinks will be ironed out in a later version? I’ll check back then.
A quick run down:
Pros:
- Free!
- Great feature list!
- Being actively developed!
Cons:
- Less-than-stunning interface
- Some of the features on that lovely list don’t seem to work
So, this is my first and probably last post from Bleezer, off I go on the quest for a better client, I’m sure I’ll post about it here.

I thought I’d blog about this for a couple of reasons:
1) Because I should really be blogging more anyways
2) I googled around when this started happening and didn’t see anything like it; so, here’s hoping someone else will find this useful at some point.
I woke up Monday morning, unplugged my MacBook from the wall, plopped down somewhere comfortable, and began typing away. After a few minutes I realized that the battery meter was showing that I had less than an hour and a half of battery time left. This was very strange, and a bit unnerving, as I usually get around four hours of life under my normal usage pattern. I thought it might be a process eating a ton of CPU and killing my battery life, but I restarted and still the meter read "1:17" or something along those lines. Next I removed the battery and replaced it, still reading only a bit over an hour of battery time for an 85-90% charged battery. So, I fired up coconutBattery (A wonderful app, I recommend all of coconut-flavour.com’s ap
ps!) and sure enough, my total potential capacity had apparently dropped to 50% of the original. (When I checked this the other day it was in the mid-high 90s.) Great, the battery is dead or dying, here’s hoping AppleCare has pity. (Technically, I’m told, it doesn’t cover "consumables" such as batteries.) A painless ten minute phone call later, a brand new battery is on the way from Apple, gratis. I love this company!
So, oh well, going to have to suffer with one and a half hours of battery life for a couple of days, right? Well, maybe not! This is the most baffling part: this evening the laptop started showing a much more normal battery life, and it has continued to do so. Even coconutBattery has updated to reflect as much, putting my total potential capacity at around 90% of the original.
What in the world is going on here? Is my MacBook battery possessed?
I’ll update this post if it continues the antics.
[Still waiting to hear back from that place about the job.]

I’m in the process of applying for a job at a local programming start-up.
They write custom applications for the pharamceutical industry, it seems like it’s going to be a really cool place to work if I get the job.
They write all their stuff in C# .NET - which I’m only somewhat familiar with, but this is supposed to be more of an intern position anyways – yay for learning!
The good news for this site is that if I do get this job, I should have a lot more stuff to write about.
Watch this space!
